Spice Up your Auction Pages to Make the Most of your DVD Auctions

In some cases there will be two separate auctions for the exact same DVD in the exact same condition, but one will sell for twice as much as the other. Why is this? It is all about the look and the presentation of the product.

Look at it this way, if you were going to buy a new car would you want to buy it from a guy in an alley, or from a knowledgeable salesperson at a car lot. You would much rather buy a product from a knowledgeable professional. The same thing can be said for buyers on Ebay. They want to buy from a professional rather than out back in an alley.

By no means am I knocking storing DVDs at your home and shipping them directly from there. What I am saying though is that you should make your Ebay auctions appear as though the DVDs are coming from a professional video distributor. What you need to do is create the right look and give off the best first impression.

There are three key ingredients for creating auction pages that sell - the item description, the auction images and the auction template. Without these key ingredients, you aren't maximizing the potential of your eBay sales.

First let's talk about the auction description. Just for those of you who were wondering, the name of a DVD and the year it was released does not constitute an acceptable auction description. You need to have a synopsis of what the DVD is about, how many minutes the DVD is, and any special features the DVD may have. If your starting bid is well below the retail value of the DVD, state that in the auction description too.

The more you tell people about the item up for auction, the more likely they'll be to bid on it. That being said, proofread your auction before you post it. Nothing looks as unprofessional as an auction page filled with typos and grammatical errors.

Next we should discuss the auction images. You want to have one really great image of the DVD, and the most obvious image is the front cover. If it is possible, it is a good idea to also get the back of the cover as well as the screen shots. The human mind is driven by image, and a picture is worth a thousand words.

Last but not least is the auction template. You can get great images and a really great description, but if they are all out of order, then they will do you no good. Make sure that your template is orderly and appears in a professional manner to the buyer. There is nothing more damaging to your success than having a terrible looking auction page. This just screams "newbie" to a potential buyer.

These are only three of the many variables that determine a successful listing from an unsuccessful listing. The time of day your auction is listed, the duration, auction title, and your feedback score also play an important part. If your not successful at first, try tweaking some more of these variables. Once you have the right combination, you can be just as successful as the top ebay sellers.
